Mark 16:15
Outreach is the core of our ministry. We take what we learn in our teachings and spread the gospel not only by word, but by action. We commit our works to volunteering and outreach in the community through our events and programs. We welcome all volunteers to help us serve the community.
Our Evangelism in the community serves as a vibrant thread weaving together faith, outreach, and communal engagement. It's not merely about spreading religious beliefs but fostering a sense of unity, compassion, and understanding among individuals. Whether through organized events, door-to-door visits, or online platforms, our evangelism seeks to share the transformative power of faith with others, inviting them into a journey of spiritual discovery and growth. Beyond theological discourse, it's about building relationships, offering support, and embodying the principles of love and service. Through our evangelism, communities can become beacons of hope, inspiring positive change and nurturing a culture of empathy and acceptance.
True Light Ministries is a staple of the Smiths Station community. The church is not only a staple of the community but a source of refuge, education, and rehabilitation. True Light embodies the symbolism of light: life, knowledge, and guidance. Serving the community through youth tutoring programs, men’s development workshops, and working with the elders of the community are just some of the ways True Light demonstrates a commitment to making Smiths Station and surrounding communities a better place to call home. By providing hope, by providing resources, and by investing in the youth, a foundation is being created where service is not only given - service is taught.
Smiths Station is what’s known as a “Settled Community” due to the average age of residents being 42 years old; also, because most of the homes and jobs are full. On the contrary, Smiths Station boasts of having the 11th largest high school in the state of Georgia, Smiths Station High School; which hosts about 1800 students. With Smiths Station being an already settled town, one might question where the rising adults will go. With not many professional positions available, and a large pool of local colleges, those seeking stability are more likely to attend colleges within the community and move away from Smiths Station to begin their careers. The idea of community development is to build the community from the inside out. Keeping opportunities and people in Smiths Station is vital to the thriving of the community for years to come. Moreover, preventative measures must also be put in place for those who do not move abroad and are left in Smiths Station with little to no opportunity. Without economic resources - delinquency, poverty, crime, and hunger become major issues. The vision of True Light is to not only provide education and hope, but to provide tangible job skills, financial literacy, and to teach entrepreneurship. By evoking a sense of hometown pride, coupled with incentivized alternatives such as entrepreneurship, which create more business and more jobs, True Light is bringing light to a place of uncertainty. By creating programs that teach trades, entrepreneurship, financial education, and promote academics, True Light is positioning the youth of Smiths Station to become leaders and Trail Blazers of the community. The youth truly are the future. By investing in the future, creating a solid foundation for the future, and by guiding the future - the future cannot fail.
True Light’s Youth Development Tutoring and After School Program takes place at True Life Ministries Church Recreational Facility throughout the school year and during the summertime. During the school year, we serve as an after-school program for all school aged children, with an emphasis on children ages 8 to 18. Children are hosted in groups based on their grade level. Groups are facilitated by camp instructors (individuals hired as tutors), mentors (volunteers), and retired educators.
Men Mentoring Men Development Workshops and Outings | Learning and Networking Opportunity
Our “Top Hats” Program – a comprehensive and hands-on initiative designed to empower individuals with the skills and confidence needed to excel in today’s economy. When identifying the necessities of this program, we asked, “What Do Men Need?” We found that men need: support, motivation, nurturing, and information. Not all men have been afforded the same opportunities to thrive. Therefore, teaching job readiness or marketable job skills are just a few of the solutions cultivated within the TOP HATS Program. Understanding impression, interpersonal skills, financial literacy, and networking are a few of the other key components in the success of men. This is what makes True Light’s Men’s Development Program so impactful.
Our “Quality of Life” Senior Citizens Health and Wellness Program is designed for Seniors (ages 55+) to promote physical activity, along with physical and mental wellbeing. By a certain age, physical activity can become more challenging if the body is not treated properly. In retirement years, where physical activity is not required as much as before, the body can deteriorate or lose its agility. With nowhere to go or no activities to participate in, Seniors are not being inspired or incentivized to participate in activities outside of the home. For these reasons, True Light Ministries has created a program focused on the Quality of Life for Seniors - giving them an outlet for both physical and mental interaction.
Our program consists of weekly non-equipment exercise classes hosted three days a week for local seniors to participate in. The exercise instructor/trainer will demonstrate exercises participants can do from the comfort of their home in chairs, on their bed, or on a mat. We understand the fear of self-injury, therefore little to no equipment will be used in the onset of the program to ensure comfortability and success. Yoga and breathing techniques will also be offered with exercise courses to promote stretching, meditation, and overall health. We will also include nutritional guides to promote healthy eating and meal prep.
